After going over Meo with Jive / HiTz, I’m not sure that Meo will be able to make it on the artist side. I like the guys at Jive / HiTz – they’re pretty cool… so I’m not going to shop him elsewhere. It seems Meo just didn’t have that initial bounce hit like “Independent” by Webbie, or something like “Pop, lock, and drop it” by the Committee’s Huey.

I’ve decided to represent M-15. He’s a 17 year-old hip-hop/rap artist from Cleveland, Ohio. While I don’t hear any direct hits at the moment, I definitely see potential. “Walk that M-1-5″ and “Get Live” are close… but I think he can do better.

I plan on keeping in touch.

I’ve decided to drop Kentrail. I’m just not hearing the hits.

Kentrail has that dirty south sound that I like, similar to Lil Jon and the Eastside Boyz. He’s currently being reviewed by Slip’N'Slide Records (home of Rick Ross and Plies).

I’m thinking of introducing Kentrail to Chris Walker, Memphitz’ right hand man at Jive Records.

There’s two tracks on Kentrail’s page that I’m really feeling; “2 Clean” and “They Like Me”… but the strongest track is actually one of the incomplete high quality demos that I received.

I haven’t put Kentrail into the “representing” category yet. While his manager has agreed with a cash advancement percentage, I still have to hear back from the lawyer.

Brandon Hines

Brandon Hines. This guy is from Detroit, Michigan. He has a killer voice and knows how to use it… My favorite songs are “Look Me in My Face”, “10″, and “When a Girl Cries.”

Brandon is friends with Trey Songz, but I personally like Brandon’s voice better.

He sold over 7,000 copies of his first album release in ‘06, and is currently looking for label placement.

I’m semi-representing Brandon. He’s really interested in Interscope.

Hopefully Interscope sees the potential here.

Meo

Decided to represent a new artist – Meo. This guy is affiliated with a company called Top-Trax, and they do some work for Konvict Muzik – Akon’s label.

Listening to the demos on MySpace, I’m really feeling all of the songs, but “Dreamin”, “Mandown”, and “Gone Get It” sound like hits. Meo’s managers sent more demos upon contractual agreement, and there’s a few more hits in there as well… In particular, a song named “One Day” which sends the message of “accomplish what you can now, because someday the lights are gonna be out.”

I forwarded some stuff to Memphitz’ friend Chris, who is associated with Jive Records. He said “Dreamin” sounds like a smash, so I forwarded the demos to him.

I think Meo has a lot of potential. He’s big in the Netherlands/UK/Germany area, and I think he could be a hit here in the USA.

Gonna try my hand at this blogging stuff. I’ve tried it before, and it never really worked out.

Let’s see how it goes.
